there is not a trail up pyrites creek. you will have to bushwhack to such an elevation (about 4400-4500) as would make sidehill travel feasable, then go over the pass at the head of the creek and around the north side of the ridge that forms the north boundary of muncaster basin. it is very broken terrain with lots of gullies. there is then a ridgeline you can follow down to the low divide/ n. side of mt. carrie that would probably go through in the summer but turned us back in early fall with very slick snow over beargrass. if you go in the spring or fall bring snow travel gear and be REALLY up on your routefinding skills.

hello, i just rolled into trout lake (north of hood river) to start out summer work with the forest service on mt. adams. trout lake is pretty quiet and i am looking for some adventurous sport/trad climbers to explore the rock of the gorge and environs this summer! i have tues.-thurs. off every week and a sport rack augmented by a pathetically small amount of cams (3). despite my poverty of trad gear i lead up to 5.9 in trad and sport back in the tetons and am very enthusiastic to find some good people and places. i also enjoy long walks on the beach and romantic dinners by candlelight....oops, wrong forum

hi there i live near hood river but if you want to explore some rocks in the gorge (ie beacon) i am interested. i am a good sport leader to 5.9 though i am pretty weak right now and i am starting to lead trad up to 5.8.
