You never know with weather, but if things go as we all hope, we will have plenty of snow in early December. The CC trail head is not maintained, so make sure you can access it at that time. Otherwise, it will be a long scree scramble on that route if we don't have any snow by then. It's a pretty transitional time and conditions could/will be cold and stormy (hopefully!) Best to be prepared for the worst, and hope for the best. Summit climbs in the winter are pretty tough, if you bring skis/board you will for sure have a great time!
  2. There are plenty of other routes on Shasta besides the traditional Muir route. The glaciers are in pretty decent condition. Check out the Hotlum for a great climb past ice falls and big cracks or the Hotlum-Wintun for less creavasses and straight forward slogging. Peace.
  3. Any first hand beta about the finger this year? Curious as to how this year's snowpack is effecting the route for a ski descent in a couple weeks? Thanks y'all for any help. Peace
  4. Howdy, I have a couple days in the Seattle area and I am looking for some beta. I thought I would be able to ski but it looks like you don't have too much snow up there. Any good suggestions for some solo climbing or is there some ski touring options? Would be interested in some 3-4th class climbs, bouldering, whatever...Just want to take advantage of the time I have up there. All suggestions greatly appreciated. Or anyone looking for a partner for the weekend? I'm a solid climber/skier with some skillz, yo!
