  1. I have 1 Charlet Moser Axar Hammer available. This tool has been used on 5 climbs, and the pick is still in excellent shape. I will include a never-used spare adze that you can replace the hammer with (a $30 dollar value). Selling for $100 with the adze, $80 without. Send me a PM or reply to this post if you're interested.

  2. Just think - only three days until our unelected moron-in-chief is shipped back to dumb-ass redneckville, and we can wake up from this four-year nightmare. The champagne is on ice.

...and by this time next week the unopened bottle will rest at the bottom of your pail beneath the warm, stagnant water that was once so clean and crystalized - awaiting a celebration never to be. cry.gifmoon.gif

BTW: Bush was chosen in 2000 by the electoral college. Many subsequent recounts, even those done by left-leaning papers, demonstrate this to be so. It is likely time for you to grow up and accept our system of government.

This election holds the potential for Bush to win the popular vote, yet lose the election in the electoral. This is our way. I will accept it if it comes to pass. (however unlikely) I will not carry on like a whiney little bitch for 4 years about our "unelected" leader. rolleyes.gif Grow some hair.

    Exactly.

  3. I did lab testing, so it probably wouldn't interest you.

Who, then, would this information interest? If it doesn't interest someone concerned with performance of the stove in an alpine environment, why bring it up in this thread that you did "lab testing in the WTA mag"??

  4. Or you could do what I did and approach it via an old climber's path that parallells Colonial Creek. You can pretty much stay entirely in a dried-up water course from where you first emerge from the forest to avoid dense slide alder - depending on time of year of course. From the base of the waterfall in Colonial Basin ascend directly to climber's right through cliffbands eventually contouring towards the Colonial Glacier moraine. I'd say the two approaches (Pyramid Lake and Colonial Basin) are about even, but the Colonial Basin approach offers plenty of chances to get into some brush if your routefinding isn't up to snuff (especially on the way down).

As for skiing, I haven't ever heard of any S. facing couloirs on Snowfield either. Looking at the map it looks steep on that South side (as steep if not steeper than the North side), but I'm not a hardcore skier, so what do I know.

  5. This is a long shot, but what the hell, stranger things have happened...

I've got a 2004 Specialized Enduro (very modified) that I'm trying to trade for decent (almost new) AT/tele gear [boots, bindings, skis, skins]. The frame is BRAND NEW, it has never been ridden. I cracked my 2003 frame and Specialized sent me a brand new one. I then had the new frame built up by the bike shop. I also bought some new parts while I was at it (listed below - items followed by NEW have never been ridden, only installed)...

-2004 Specialized FSR Enduro Pro Frameset (Silver) w/ Fox Float RL Shock (NEW)

-Mavic D521 36H Rims (Dark Gray Anodized - hand-built by Scott at the DH Zone)

-DT Swiss 15 Gauge Spokes (Black Anodized) w/ Brass Nipples

    -Hadley DH Hubs (Black Anodized)

    -Shimano XT Rear Cassette

    -Race Face Bottom Bracket

-Race Face Next LP Isis Splined Crankset (Black - Carbon Fiber/Aluminum)

    -Race Face Race Rings

    -SRAM PowerLink Chain (NEW)

    -Crank Brothers Egg Beater Pedals

-Shimano XTR Rapid-Rise Rear Derailleur (NEW)

    -Shimano XTR Front Derailleur (NEW)

    -Shimano Deore XT Shifters

    -Chris King NoThreadSet (Blue)

-Hayes Hydraulic Disc Brakes (w/ new pads and lines)

-Rock Shox Psylo XC Fork (Black w/ U-Turn)

    -Easton EA-50 Low-Rise Monkey Bars

    -Selle Italia Titanium Gel Saddle

    -Thomson Elite Seat Post (NEW)

-Thomson Elite Stem (100mm, 5° Rise) (NEW)

    -Salsa Skewers, Seat Clamp

    -ODI Locker Grips

    -Continental Vertical Pro Tires (NEW)

I spent a lot of money building this bike up and I'd love to keep it, but I'd rather have some decent skis, bindings, etc so I can do some winter stuff in the Cascades. I can't afford both and since it's almost Winter, I want skis. Everything that isn't new on the bike is almost new. The rims don't even look like they've been ridden, the bike looks almost new.

I don't have a picture of the bike on my computer, but I figure those in the market to trade for this bike will be serious riders and will know what the bike looks like by the description I've given. I live in Seattle so you're obviously welcome to come by and take a look at it or test ride it. Frame is size Medium ... I'm 6'0" 220 and it fits me perfect. Send me a PM if interested. Serious offers only please.

  6. nolanr,

Check out summitpost.org for TRs from Fortress and Buck. Klenke owns the Buck page and did a great job on it - tons of info. There are also some excellent photos on the Buck page on summit post that will give you an idea of what you'd be getting into. It's a beautiful area all around there - have fun whatever you decide to do.

  7. Buck is way more interesting a climb than Fortress. There's some super camp spots up there by the "pool of granite". It's one of the most beautiful places I've ever been to. Fortress is a big pile of loose rock. Just my 2 cents.
