  1. I can't even believe I have to listen to this horseshit. I see just as many skiers sideslipping the steeps as snowboarders. I think it's exteremely shallow and closed-minded to assume all snowboarders are 10-16 years olds running down little kids. Both accidents on Bachelor last year we're from skiers hitting people. But I don't rip on 14-year old skiers. I jump turn just fine and don't need to sideslip anything unless it's really icy. You have every right to protect your child from idiot speed demons on the mountain. It happens at resorts regardless of what people are riding on. Good snowboarders should give bad snowboarders a bad time? I give any out-of-control skier/snowboarder a bad time. Grow up.

  2. I was at Smith a few years ago hanging with the Outward Bound crew climbing Heinous. Ty got involved in a serious conversation as he was tying his figure 8 follow thru and never followed thru. About 30 feet off the deck the wind blew hard and pulled his rope out from his harness. He's hanging on realizing that there's no way to downclimb and decides to jump for it. Bean steps up and catches him like you cradle a baby and slams into the ground. Minor bruising and a little rattled but basically saved him from ankle\tailbone injury if not more. Pretty scary stuff.

  3. Word has it that the legendary GaperTimmy was spotted at InClimb last night devouring set routes. I think it would be correct to assume that this man will be a bouldering and climbing machine by springtime. I wouldn't be suprised if Timmy has got some projects out at Smith this year. He was good before and now with technique and strength to boot. Lookout Caldwell there's a new Timmy in town. yelrotflmao.gif

  4. But can he teach? I've worked with teenagers for almost 7 years now and I've met a wide variety of teachers/mentors. The problem is people think that Masters/Doctorates Degrees and high GPA's automatically mean a good teacher who can relate to kids. Some of the best teachers I work with have basic education but are really good at dealing with ALL types of students. Unless this guy has amazing charisma and years of experience working with all populations of students I wouldn't hire him either.

  5. I agree Nightmares on Wax is really good. Everyone who appreciates good hip hop, not wankster crap, should check out UGLY DUCKLING!!!!! These 3 white boys kick out creative beats w/out drug references and don't need to cuss. They're website is www.meatshake.com. Crack me up. yelrotflmao.gif

  6. No steeps in Oregon? I'd beg to differ. Try skiing/riding a little farther from the lift. Paulina Peak? I'd call that pretty damn steep. Wallowa's backcountry, take your pick of steep ass lines. fruit.gif

  7. I just got back myself not too long ago. Where where you? You mentioned the state of GRO, I was in Truncones and Zihuatenejo. Surfing, drinking and getting married. ONe of the best times of my life. Which club did you meet her in? Kisses? Any climbing around there? Just curious.

  8. wave.gifDid you get on anything or just tooling around? I hiked for turns up near Broken Top. Weather was variable, beautiful when the sun could penetrate the low fog. Caught some rides with crazy 'bilers but still to slow/weak to get into the bowl with snowshoes in one day. Weird snow up high, avy conditions a little sketchy. Beer tonight?
  9. Fejas has got a really good point. True it's not advertised but anyone can skin or hike up Mt Batchy as long as they don't interfere with patrol operations. How do they know who the track going OB's belongs to? I've heard stories of people getting in trouble hiking up to summit and skiing off the back to get to Kwol Butte. It's public land how can they charge you if your not a passholder/ticket buyer? Very interesting point. And yes the kid was a total idiot and was on his way to need a rescue. Hosmer Lk is super flat, the powder is way deep and he might have found the road if he had a compass or GPS, but.....he was probably spending the night. He should be fined, but 4K? That's a little excessive. Just my 2 cents.

  10. Sunday at Bachey was amazing, 2ft of fresh in some spots and still coming down. LIght and fluffy and now an 80" base. Looks like the summit is gonna open today. Work? I don't think so. rockband.gif

  11. So you could drive all the way to the trailhead no problems? Your burly for pushing through to Chamber Lakes with that much new snow. Did you skin or snowshoe? I was thinking about ya Sat/Sun when Mt. Bachelor was getting a couple feet of fresh. I figured you'd get out, just thought it might take a day or two. Could you stay with the marked trail the whole way? Let's watch the weather and next blizzard break lets bust out something. Glad your back safe. laugh.gif

  12. Are you staying in the campground? I'm thinking of heading that way during the same time frame. It's nice to have no students, eh? I would probably drive down from Bend for like 5-7 days depending on weather. What routes do you have in mind? I can lead 5.8 gear and follow 5.10 comfortably.

  13. I work with and right next to the legendary John Buchard every Mon-friday. Not many know that he resides in Bend, OR. We go bouldering but he hates sport climbing.Dude's over 50 and still pulls down HARD! And like Dru I've smoked pounds with Chongo down at Todd Gordon's ranch in J-tree

  14. Was a pleasure climbing with you and Timmy. You've got amazing balance and graze when climbing. Sorry 9-gallon buckets wasn't your thing. Hope we can bust out some routes next time your around. Say hello to the midwest for me. wave.gif

  15. I as well was born and raised in the Great Lake state. 3 Michiganders on one site, what's the world coming to. Do you still use your left hand when showing others where you live in MI? Born in Bay City, MI, grew up in Traverse City MI, moved as far away as possible as soon as possible. Detroit is much better now than back in the day. Much harder to score good crack though.
