Could be other climber in the past giving the area a bad name. i know of, from personal experience, of some european climbers cutting border around nepal and tibet, totally illegal. i am not saying that is what these guys were doing, but try telling the chinese soldiers.

sounds like a sensitive area to be in for starters. with all the maoist activity right now in nepal coupled with the tensions at that border location, it would seem to be a red flag for possible trouble. americans, or north americans for that matter, cannot continue to believe that they can still go anywhere they want on this planet right now. it still sucks though.

Would one find razor-wire at the base of the said 'protected' spires? Crown land means access for everyone. No matter what happens up there, bolts or no bolts, we are all impacting the environment to some degree when we put up new routes. ethics is only part of the story here.

looking at a few routes on this peak, as well as on american border peak. what is the access like from chilliwack? anybody done this one of late? i want to head up there and climb it on sunday (is it possible to climb in one day?)

Dru says it's an indication of how active someone is and that perhaps they are not good at anything else. THEN he proceeds to bag peaks. what is up with that if he looks down on it so much.

I''ve always just checked this site out from time to time but never did register until now. There is a question I need answered...what the hell is up with 'horsecock'?? are we talking about salami? what is the story behind that? I expect at least a few responses on this one, just hope i get the 'true' story
