  2. On a trip a few months back to Aconcagua, I had two large red MSR bottles and MSR Dragonfly stove, all used many times and had no problem. I just buried it around other stuff and what someone else noted they were more interested in the crampons than anything else. I also had several lighters in my checked baggage.

  3. Saturday I ran the White River 50 trail run. Had a bee stinging, 3 crap, puking, lost all hearing in my right ear good time. I was super trashed Sunday!!!! Great race, well organized, great racers....Hats off to all. bigdrink.gif

  4. grin.gif I second the Mchale's recommendation! You get custom fitted, the colors you want as well as the options that you want. If you want super light you can choose spectra fabric, strong and light. Mchale's are also super versatile, changing from an expedition load hauler to a summit pack is as easy as removing a couple of stays and slapping on the summit flap. My .00000001 cent. thumbs_up.gif
  5. cool.gifGood job! A group of three of us climbed the 21st and 22nd. The route was great, with a light wind. Some great snowbridges up their, it was fun!! We saw the same researchers, they were down in the crater looking at one of the loud hissing vents. Mt. Baker rocks!!!! The scenery their is fantastic!!! grin.gif
  6. That's fast.....a friend of mine does 100 mile trail runs and he smoked up Si in 44 minutes and some odd seconds.....As for the bear, pepper spray works good on them.....I sprayed one two Saturdays ago and it worked good!!! His face probably felt as red as this the_finger.gif

  7. We climbed on the 20th and it was a bit windy up top, then whiteout and rime ice all over us. Yes indeed the route was a little longer than normal, but it was nice to check out the terrain in the saddle. Great day in the mountains and we didn't see anyone else on top.....I think everyone turned around????? bigdrink.gif

  8. Day trip up Little "T" (standard route), on 6/16/03. The three of us left the vehicle at 0430 and headed up. Bypassed Summerland, went to the far climbers right of Meany Crest and went up the Fryingpan Glacier, cut through the Whitman Crest and onto the Whitman Glacier.

On the first traverse across the Whitman watch for continous rockfall by a small double waterfall on the right.

We traveled around a couple crevasses and headed straight up the glacier until we top out at the rocks. We then unroped up a small steep snowfield and finally made the summit scramble. No one seen or heard all day, (other than a large group of climbers across the way at Cathederal Gap), had the place to ourselves. Summited at 1230 and on the way out the snow was great for plunge stepping. Car to car was 14 hours......long but great day in the mountains. Ski's or snowboard out would be much faster. Glacier conditions were good, a few crevasses opening but easily navigated. bigdrink.gif

  9. I have tried many and the Land Rover Discovery is the best of both worlds. Unfortunatley the people buying them don't take them off road. These vehicles are made for off road abuse but they are a great ride at 70 down the freeway. Con's- a little thirsty about 14-17 and you have to use Super, the only dealer's are Seattle, Bellevue, Spokane, and Tacoma. Pro's- Great ground clearance, great ride on and off road, permanent four wheel drive, solid, and very safe in crashes. That my 1 peso..... rockband.gif
