Compton Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Anyone have current snow conditions on the approach or descent for Backbone Ridge on Dragontail?. Are an axe or crampons necessary? thanks Quote
pclark Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 Definitely no need for any on the approach. 10 days ago we walked off with ice axes on soft snow. Depending on your comfort level with the steep snow, you probably wouldn't need them. We were happy to have them. Quote
matt_warfield Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 I concur. Nothing needed for approach, steep snow on descent. Axes will be a pain on the climb but nice to have to get down safely. Quote
