Devin27 Posted May 21, 2014 Share Posted May 21, 2014 The wonders of google  As of May 12: The road is gated at Johnson Cabin (milepost 21.1). Beyond the gate at Johnson Cabin, the road is snow-free to milepost 22, 1 mile short of the Cascade Pass trailhead. The last 0.5 mile is completely snow covered.  From the road to the base base of the east ridge, plan on about 4ish miles, but the vertical distance matters much more since you will gain over 5,000 ft Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

To add, on the 10th there was a large tree blocking the road at mile 19, I doubt it's been moved, I doubt they did it on the 11th, and hard to believe it could be moved in one day (though I'd love recent proof otherwise).
