PortlandAmir Posted May 26, 2013 Posted May 26, 2013 Hello all, just joined to ask this question, as I couldnt find another post that answered this question. Anybody know what the cell phone reception is like while climbing Mt.Hood? Not expecting data to facebook, but a signal for a 911 call would be nice. Planning on summiting at some point this year, and would like to know this information for emergency preparedness. If it matters, im planning on summiting the southside. Thanks for any and all info! stevetimetravlr Posted May 26, 2013 Posted May 26, 2013 I think the last guy to get rescued called in for a rescue and then posted on Facebook while waiting to be rescued. Not sure if you can Twitter, but I hear its all the rage when you get lost, thus the old saying.. Quote
B Deleted_Beck Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 After I switched to Verizon, I had reliable enough signal that I could actually skip the office and climb and still "work"... if that tells you anything. Below the treeline, it's hit-or-miss... but above treeline, the major three will be pretty reliable. I think it also depends heavily on your phone, though- I get WAY better signal with my iPhone than I did with several other Verizon phones. Quote
