jkifer Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 Hey Cascaders, I'm a med student in New Orleans, and I recently registered with my girlfriend to climb Rainier with IMG in early June. Unfortunately I was put on the waiting list (first position) - she was not. My intent was to propose on the summit (weather permitting, of course). Rainier has been a dream of both of ours since we met (in Washington - both from Baton Rouge though - interesting story). Anyways, it's incredibly important that I get up there when she's around. I have my ticket booked and am ready to climb, but feel it would be much safer with others. Oh, and just so we're clear, though I am in New Orleans, I am not new to mountaineering. My lady and I have both climbed Shasta, I completed a solo summit of Broke-off Mt. (near Lassen) in the winter months, and am a semi-professional cyclist. I have all the gear required, except a pair of crampons/fancy plastic boots, which I'll be renting (not useful in NOLA). I'd be happy to help out with travel costs, climbing fees, food stuffs, etc. If you have ANY interest in this, PLEASE email jadenkifer@gmail.com Thanks in advance, Jaden Quote
mountainsandsound Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 Not to be a buzz kill, but an experience on Shasta (was it avy gulch?) and Broke-off mountain would probably not be adequate to prepare someone for being self-sufficient on Rainier. The main difference being big glaciers and big crevasses. Oh, and shittier weather. June is pretty iffy. Quote
