jmk Posted May 28, 2012 Posted May 28, 2012 Anyone know if it is open yet? I have heard conflicting info. The USFS site says it is closed but I have run into a few people while hiking who say it is open. Quote
mplutodh1 Posted May 31, 2012 Posted May 31, 2012 Spoke to someone today who was out there last weekend (Memorial Day) and they said not yet. Quote
Seamstress Posted May 31, 2012 Posted May 31, 2012 Last Updated: May 28, 2012] Climbing Conditions and Route Information Forest Road 81-830 is Closed to Climbers Bivouac. Forest Road 83 is open to Marble Mountain Sno*Park Given current conditions, I expect that it will be at least 2 weeks. Quote
mc_tree Posted June 2, 2012 Posted June 2, 2012 Is the gate at the cougar sno-park open yet and if so how close can you get to the junction of the bivouac road junction? Quote
TyC Posted June 22, 2012 Posted June 22, 2012 Went up to cougar today and picked up my permits for tomorrow and was told that Climbers Bivouac would be opening up today at 5pm. Ill be heading up tonight and camping out. Quote
TyC Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 Went up and attempted to summit, but got turned back by awful weather. We hiked up to the tree line and camped out by 12:30 am. It took us a lot longer to get there than we thought because the entire trail is under snow still and no one has broken in the trail yet. Woke up around 4 am and headed up. Once we reached the second monitor it was snowing and 20 mph winds with visibility of about 10 feet so we decided to head back down and try again another day. Quote
