chris Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 (edited) 2010 Black Diamond Guru Skis - Price Reduced! 176cm, 123/75/106, 2.6kg (5lb 12oz) LINK to BD Site. I've used these skis one season, 10 days, in Antarctica. They are optimal ski mountaineering, big-tour boards, keeping the weight off of your feet and back during the uphill, but preforming awesome on steep slopes dor the down. They've been drilled once for a pair of Dynafit bindings, 310mm boot sole length (27-27.5 mondo, or 9.5-10.5 US men's). The weird pattern on the bases in the photo is the left-over wax from my summer storage tune. Gecko Skins – These “glueless” skins work surprisingly well, climb a skin track as bit as steep as your friend's but weigh ½ as much. Trimmed for the Guru skis, no tail attachment. SOLD 2009 K2 Backlash 181cm, 129/92/115 LINK to K2 Backlash page at Backcoutry.com. I'd argue that these dimensions are the best “quiver-of-one” ski out there. These skis can and have skied it all – big enough to ski powder effortlessly, stiff enough to plow through crusts and chunder, narrow enough to carve and hold an edge easily, but still light enough to use on a multi-day ski tour. These boards are no longer in production, having been replaced by the Sideshows. They retailed for $750 back in the day – a new pair of Sideshows cost $825. They're mounted with a pair of Dynafit TLT Speed (also called the TLT Classic) bindings, which was just discontinued at the end of 2010/2011 season and replaced with the TLT Speed Radical. Drilled for a 310mm boot sole (27-27.5 mondo, or 9.5-10.5 US men's). This binding has long been my favorite – incredibly light weight, but sturdy with the absolute minimum amount of plastic parts to break. This pair does have a chip missing from the plastic piece that holds the ski crampons, but still functions (I skied on them this way all last year). I couldn't find a pair of 2010-2011 TLT Speeds on the internet, but the new TLT Speed Radicals retail for $399.95. LINK to everything you could want to know about Dynafit bindings at Wildsnow.com. I also have a pair of BD Ascension Nylon STS Skins trimmed to fit. The glue is going bare in a few spots, but its nothing a little Gold Bond can't address. LINK to BD website and skins page. This has been my go-to board. I skied on powder days with people riding skis 30mm more underfoot and kept up, and skied Shuksan's NW Couloir in full powder-bullet-crust conditions. Its the closest thing I think there is out there to a quiver of one. BD Backlash Skis retailed for $750.00 ($825 if you were to buy new tomorrow). Dynafit TLT Speed Bindings retail for $399.95. BD Ascension Nylon STS Skins retail for $179.95. Total retail cost (with tax): $1456.24 - $1538.37 Total package here: $750.00 Black Diamond Quadrant Boot Size 27 (9.5 US Men's, 310mm boot sole length) Winner Backcountry Magazine's 2011 Editor's Choice, Powder Magazine's 2012 Skiers' Choice. LINK to BD site and Quadrant page. This is the boot that steered the skis listed above. To fit my 28.5 foot into a 27 boot, I replaced the Boa liners with a pair of Thermo-fit wrapped liners and volcano foot beds (a $400 value in itself) instead. These boots have skied California, Washington, BC, and Antarctica in the last two years. A few scuffs but they're still working strong and have a few more years left in them for sure. BD Quadrant Boots Retail for $688.76 ($1126.76 if you include the aftermarket liners and footbeds). $360.00. Edited November 1, 2011 by chris Quote
