marienbad Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 So far I’ve just tried a few packs, and they all seem to have the same problem: lower-back pain and intense shoulder irritation. If I clip the tiny chest strap across, it digs hard plastic into my sternum. It seems to me that ideally a pack would hug your whole chest so as to transfer as much weight as possible there while reinforcing your back and preventing the pack load from swaying with your gait. Does it exist? Quote
TraverseFiend Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 Have you snugged up the load-lifter straps (from the top of pack to shoulder straps)? They help take some of the weight off the top of your shoulders. Start with hipbelt snugged up first before adjusting shoulder straps. People come in all sizes and proportions; not always an easy match to packs. Go to a good, small, gear store and get some advice from someone who actually gets out and uses the gear. IMNSHO. Quote
