cam yarder Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 I bought slider pinky rests for my Grivel tools, and have a question about the "aerospace rivets" as described in the instruction manual. The bottom holes on my tools are not threaded, but strangely enough they accept the screws that come with the sliders. Is this the design, or should the holes be threaded? My concern is that the pinky rest will pop off mid-climb. Anyone else have experience with this? Quote
fishstick Posted June 3, 2011 Posted June 3, 2011 The screws will self-thread into the hollow rivets. This should take some effort but if the screw absolutely stalls before bottoming out then the inside of the rivet may need to be very carefully cleaned up with a drill of the same dimension (or slightly smaller) of the hole. Once complete the system has proven to be surprising bombproof if not liberating over several years of use. Good luck! GB Quote
BigSky Posted June 5, 2011 Posted June 5, 2011 They don't inspire confidence upon installation, but do seem to hold up (so far). Quote
