cpac54 Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 Hi there, I'm heading to Nepal in April and will be climbing Island Peak and have a couple questions I'm hoping someone can help me out with as I've never been to 6000m before. 1) How much can I expect my feet to swell at altitude? I wear a size 41 boot over here, and it fits perfectly but am wondering if my boots will become too tight once I'm over there. 2) Do you think that the La Sportiva Nepal EVO would be sufficient for Island Peak in April, or would a double boot be a better choice? I appreciate the help, thanks all! Quote
bistro Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 go to alpine ascent int. web site and look at their gear list, that will give a good idea about double plastic boots Quote
medicsandy Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 Consider talking to your doctor about a prescription for Diamox. You can look it up on rxlist.com Quote
cpac54 Posted February 8, 2011 Author Posted February 8, 2011 Thanks bistro, that's a pretty good gear list they have on their website. And yeah, I've been to my doctor already to get fully immunized and have prescriptions for diamox, malaria (for the jungle), and some traveller's diarrhea pills. Thanks medicsandy. Can anyone speak to how much I might expect my feet to swell at altitude? It seems like it's one of those things that's difficult to plan for... just don't want to get over there and find my boots don't fit anymore. Quote
medicsandy Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 The Diamox should keep your feet from swelling up too much, as it works as a diaretic too. Plan on some swelling and don't wear boots that are too snug when not at elevation. Quote
