Hello.

First post on this forum. A friend at RMI recommended it to me.

Went up Rainier with RMI this past early July, Ingraham Direct route. Very high winds, didn't feel safe at about 12,500 and so turned back. No altitude issues, gear issues or physical stamina issues.

Will be in Spokane on family business July 20-24, 2011 and would like to climb Rainier again afterwards before flying home. I live in Ohio so I try to take in opportunities when I find myself in good hiking/climbing locations.

I have hiked up Longs Peak, Colorado three times, once solo after camping the night before. Two separate years with my two children. I have all my own gear except for a suitable tent which I will rent. I would like to climb Rainier again but my kids want to go. Can't afford three times the guide service rate. Will have to rent all the gear for my kids as it is and three plane tickets to get there.

Won't buy them gear until they stop growing!

Would really like to get someone mature and experienced to lead the DC route last week in July 2011 with myself (age 44, very good physical shape) and my two kids, son 17, daughter 15, both experienced and tough hikers with some high altitude experience (Longs Peak is same height as Rainier). We have hiked and camped in Olympic National Park, Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, Rocky Mountain National Park, Blue Ridge/Smoky Mountains, and Mount Rainier National Park, some of these multiple trips different years. We have also hiked up Mount (Ben) Nevis in Scotland several times. My son is a varsity soccer player and runner and my daughter has been competing internationally at the professional level in Scottish dance for four years. They are very fit and very smart. I don't want the image of 'kids' to turn anyone away.

I know this is far away in the future, but I need to plan this and get everything set up, places to stay the night before, appropriate size tents, fuel for water making, sizing for rental gear, permits, plane tickets with firm dates, etc. Since I have such a narrow and fixed window to do this, I would like to get it set up as early as possible.

I do not know when I will be able to get back into this part of the country and so I really want to take this opportunity when we will all be there anyway.

Any interest, please contact me.

Thank you very much.
