Has anyone ever taken a look at this site ?

I'm curious as to what people think about their forecasting methodology. On paper it seems to good to be true, forecast at different elevations for popular peaks. I'm wondering if this site is doing any of their own forecasting, or if they are just pulling data down from NOAA and putting on some fancy graphics. (?) Has anyone had any experience using this site?

Also for the Canadian weather forecasts, is there any group aside from the Environment Canada that does forecasting? This site provides forecasts for areas that the Environment Canada doesn't cover (high elevation) Is this site just taking a guess or is there some part of Environment Canada that does a forecast for high elevation that this site is tapping into?

The chances they are doing any sort of their own forecasting are slim to none, imo. Pretty much every weather forecasting service out there just adds their own "formula" on top of NOAA or other governmental agency forecasts. I go direct to the NOAA because I'd rather have the forecasts that are messed with the least.

It looks like the same formula & layout that is used on www.snow-forecast.com. I've used snow-forecast.com for the past few winters for skiing, and it has been pretty useful for planning the appropriate days of the week to catch powder fever. For looking at something higher elevation like a ski resort, it seems to be a little better than just going off the NOAA point forecast.

But, as with any forecast, it gets less and less accurate the further out you go. And, of course, still check actual conditions before leaving the house, via weather stations, telemetry, radar, etc.

I used that site to get forecasts while down in Patagonia and found them to be reliable to about two days out. Haven't had much luck with it up here this spring and early summer. But the weather has been squirrely. Bless them, they're tying to predict the future.
