Trip: USA - My Spring Climbing Season/Plea for Partners

Date: 5/19/2010

Trip Report:

I'm moving out to Seattle for the summer next week, and instead of posting a bare-bones partner request, I thought I'd recap my spring climbing season. If you like what you see, send me a PM and we'll meet up at the gym or go climbing on the weekends.

The story starts in Utah in early March. After driving through the night from Vegas, I met my friends at the Woodbury Road Crags for some sport climbing:

Here's me clipping on Shades of Grey, 5.11b

Then it was off to Red Rocks for some sandstone.

Here's looking down from the first anchor of Arch Enemy - this goes under the huge arch that forms the first few pitches of Solar Slab. We did Johnny Vegas to get up there.

I sadly left the desert, and headed back to New York. Some Gunks shots from the spring:

Getting into the business on V-3 (5.7), on not such a nice day:

Then I had law school finals and didn't get to climbing for six weeks. :(

But right after I turned in that last paper, I blasted off to North Conway for some sweet granite!

Pine Tree Eliminate (5.8):

More slabs than pro on Whitehorse:

I worked on my crack technique on They Died Laughing (5.9) at Cathedral Ledge:

I'll be in Seattle this weekend, and will be looking for partners on Monday and Tuesday.

Approach Notes:

Update: One last trip to the Gunks before my flight tomorrow.

Here's CCK (5.7+), one of the best pitches anywhere in the US:

We also did Ants' Line and Directissima (both 5.9), and I rocked the 5.6 offwidth on Baby.
