American Foundation for Children with AIDS

I'm pleased to announce that we have partnered up with the American Foundation for Children with AIDS to help them promote The Climb Up So Kids Can Grow Up. The Foundation lends support to the childhood AIDS pandemic in sub-saharan Africa in the form of medical care. Like our support with the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, we will be providing free advertising to this important organization.

Having worked in AIDS research the last 12 years I cannot overstate the amount of human suffering that is occurring in sub-saharan Africa due to AIDS, Kaposi Sarcoma, and KS associated lymphoproliferative disorders. There are regions were the HIV rate is over 50% and villages were the KS rate is 90%. The hospitals are so poor that people who can afford chemotherapy treatment sit in the hospital without any nursing care because the hospital can't afford latex gloves. These pathogens are evolving and are becoming increasingly aggressive in young children.
