Elk Lake to White Glacier?

Does anyone have any beta on the schwack from Elk Lake to the toe of the White Glacier? It looks very doable on the topo, but the outflow of the Blue Glacier would have to be forded, and I presume there would be a few places of steep sidehilling above the canyon of the river. It's hard to tell how much of a canyon it is from the topos, however--I know the valley flattens out upstream.

I've looked at it too. I concluded that if it weren't a complete nightmare it would have been done, but who knows! It would be a great way to Mount Tom.

You have a good point! Still, I'd be tempted to give it a shot sometime. I'd like to loop around up over the White and onto the rest of Olympus. I've always looked at that the lower White Glacier valley from the trail to Gl. Meadows. Seems like a pretty wild area.

yeah i was just on panic peak and looking at that and thinking getting up there would be sweet ... there's an awesome basin with lakes adjacent to the glacier .... and it looks like clear sailing once you're outta the woods .. i might have a pic of it
