lastlegs Posted June 21, 2009 Posted June 21, 2009 Anyone up for a South Side Hood climb this Thursday or Friday, 6/25 or 6/26 (starting 12-1am on either day)? Trying to squeeze in a climb before it all thaws. I’ve summitted Rainier, have some formal climb training, am in decent hiking shape (Defiance, Table, Nesmith in the past few months), but never been up Hood. Would love to have a partner up there, experienced or not. Quote
MJaso Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 Are you planning a one day summit or will you be camping out above the Palmer around 9000? I'm kickin around the idea of going up Thursday afterwork to high camp and coming down Friday morning to go in to work. Quote
lastlegs Posted June 23, 2009 Author Posted June 23, 2009 I could go either way. There’s a few more logistics involved in camping, but there’s a lot to be said for it—-for one thing, it’s almost a new moon, not sure how fun it is climbing the lower slopes with just lamps. Are you talking about leaving TL around 5 pm, then heading for the top around 3 or 4am? It sounds like hitting the chute well before dawn (5:20) is the only way to avoid the traffic jam. Quote
