AlpineMonkey Posted June 22, 2008 Posted June 22, 2008 I was reading the Crystal Creek Fire Resource Issues from Sept. 2003 and came across this: Archeology/Historical - Contact is Ann Fink The area is unsurveyed. Suppression operations should minimize disturbance to old mine sites and artifacts (lower Ingalls Creek trail), an unconfirmed grave site near Falls Creek, and a rock cabin foundation in lower Crystal Creek. Does anyone here know of the "rock cabin foundation?" I am just curious of its history. I haven't heard of it before. Quote
telemarker Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 Craig, Three or four years we hiked up Crystal Creek and found some rusted out tin cans and pans, but no foundation...There is an old cabin below Wedge Mtn., however. Quote
max Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 I was on that fire. We found the grave site and cabin site. The foundation is virtually non-existant. I rememeber just dort of nodding at it. The grave site has a little marker with somehing about a guy named Shorty... Brighty? and an old pick axe head. I'll dig through my picture when my laptop's up and running again. Quote
AlpineMonkey Posted June 24, 2008 Author Posted June 24, 2008 I've seen the grave, that is the cutoff point to leave the trail and head into the knitting needles. Just wondering about the "cabin" foundation up crystal creek, sounds cool. Quote
