Bubba Posted June 9, 2008 Posted June 9, 2008 Looks like the road to Schreibers Meadow is almost clear; website reports it clear 1.9 miles from the trailhead. I'd like to take a couple of friends skiing and boarding on the Easton glacier route this coming weekend if the weather holds. My question is: how high up on the glacier route can you safely go with out being roped-up and worrying about crevasses? We aren't lookig to climb just get in some turns without carrying all the climbing gear. I climbed this route years ago when it was snow-covered right out of the parking lot and I don't really recall where the snowfield ends and the glacier starts. Quote
Bigtree Posted June 9, 2008 Posted June 9, 2008 Bubba, I'm planning on climbing via Easton this weekend myself. I hope the road fully melts out. As I recall, the top of the Railway grade/terra firma ends at about 6,400'. There is a nice, non-glacial bowl immediately along you left as you plod up the grade (at about 5,000'). Have fun and make sure you break a good trail. Quote
