wishiwashigh Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 Can anyone recommend a good guide book for climbs in the Andes? I'm looking for something that covers all the bases, Planning, logistics, routes, weather, ect. I just started looking into South America and don't know much about it. All I know is I wanna climb there and rent some donkeys to carry my gear to Base camp Quote
Hugh Conway Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 Look over in the TR forum http://cascadeclimbers.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/ubb/postlist/Board/44/page/1 and figure out where you want to go in the Andes (Ecuador? Peru? Bolivia? Argentina? Chile?) There is no good guidebook to the entire range just like there is no good guidebook to climbing in N. America Quote
mneagle Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 I used Yossi Brain's book for Bolivia and found it to be pretty good. The only problem is that the guide is from 1999 and some of the route descriptions were off due to glacial retreat. There won't be any new editions, as Brain died in an avalanche shortly after the first puplication. Bolivia Climbing Quote
