doumall Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 I am heading out to Washington from Colorado this friday to climb Rainer and Baker conditions permitting. Am I going to run into problems with access if I rent an economy car? Looking at getting to Paradise for Rainier and Coleman/Demming route on Baker. What is access currenly like for the Coleman/Demming route? Thanks! Quote
bstach Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 You'd be fine for Ranier, paved and plowed all the way to Paradise. Baker is another story...this dirt/gravel road may have swollen streams you need to drive across and will have patchy snow in many places that you will need to get over to more dry road on the other side...it will definately mean you have to park a bit farther down the road and have an extra few miles to walk. counterfeitfake Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 This weekend is also going to be a pretty bad one for being on snow, see the avalanche advisory that was recently posted. Quote
