AlaskaNative Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 What year was that Icefall made? Does it have one zipper or two? The collar was standard with a fleece lining? Looks like an Icefall, but the Frontpoint comes with the fleece-lined collar, and a single zipper. It can be easy to confuse the two. Quote
featheredfriends Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 AlaskaNative, the parka in the photo is definitely an Icefall. You are correct that the two jackets share many similarities. Here are some differences to look for: 1. Length- the jacket in the photo is parka length, the Frontpoint has a shorter torso. 2. Pockets- the Icefall has the second set of exterior pockets (velcro flap for use with mittens) where the Frontpoint only has the zippered pockets. The fleece lined collar is a standard feature on the Frontpoint (although not for much longer). The fact that this Icefall has one suggests it was a custom option. The Frontpoint and Icefall both used to have the zipper design shown in the photo. Then we changed the design to the double zip in the Icefall in 2004. In 2007 we also put the double zip on the Frontpoint. Another interesting part of this jacket is the interior fabric. It's hard to see what it is from the photo, but clearly it's not our standard black taffeta nylon. It's possible it's a different color of taffeta (we used to have several choices) or it might be Pertex Quantum. I'd put the manufacture date of this jacket is somewhere between late 2003 to mid-2004. The color of the shell fabric is one clue there. From the photo the parka appears to be in excellent condition, and provided it has been stored carefully, this parka should be just about as warm and durable as one made last month. At auction, this jacket could fetch between $250 and $350. ("Wow, I never knew I had something this valuable in my closet!") Thanks for tuning in to this episode of FF Antiques Roadshow. Quote
wdb Posted January 29, 2008 Author Posted January 29, 2008 Thanks featheredfriends. You are right the jacket is an Icefall, it has one zipper, and the fleece was a custom addition along with extra down fill. I got it around Jan 2004. I only wore it several times for light activity (ie walking in the cold). I've been very careful with it so it's still in great shape! Quote
wdb Posted May 17, 2008 Author Posted May 17, 2008 I'm still looking to sell these jackets! Price is negotiable. Quote
