jordansahls Posted November 30, 2007 Posted November 30, 2007 I was planning on climbing Bakers North Ridge this weekend, but the weather forecast is a little foreboding, that and avalanche danger seems to be really high above 7k. Anyway, I need some suggestions for easily accessed technical climbs in the Whatcom county area. So fire at will, or not. Quote
Dave S Posted December 1, 2007 Posted December 1, 2007 the twin sisters have a large amount of tech to them given the right conditions. the west ridge of north twin, the south ridge of south twin, the north face of north twin, and a bunch of other stuff I have just looked at. conditions should be awesome by wednesday, if the temps drop again like they are supposed to. have fun Quote
Farrgo Posted December 1, 2007 Posted December 1, 2007 Twin Sisters are fun and you can pretty much climb something on them in just about any weather conditions. I've never heard of any ice climbing out there... but mabey Dave knows something I don't. This is on N Twin above the obelisk? (can't remember what that feature is called). Quote
Blake Posted December 2, 2007 Posted December 2, 2007 There's an Ice Route on the S Twin that Jason MArtin did, and I'm sure lots of other stuff in the area that would be icy/snow/mixed not too extremo. Secdond Post here: http://www.cascadeclimbers.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/001047.html Quote
jordansahls Posted December 2, 2007 Author Posted December 2, 2007 Thanks for the input. I headed out late Friday with a friend in the hopes that we could get the Cosley/Houston route on Colfax, but conditions turned us back. Anyway, I will definitely give the Twins a go when weather permits, thanks again. cheers, Jordan Quote
Farrgo Posted December 2, 2007 Posted December 2, 2007 Jason's route sounds like a gem. I wouldn't have thought that those mountains would have any significant ice features. The rock is really solid though, probably just a little bit of ice would make for a scrappy adventure. Quote
