suckbm
anyone have anythoughts on how the shaft of the new bd cobra will resist wear and tear if used for drytooling and getting scraped against alot of rock.
catbirdseat
I've noticed that the Cobra does have aluminum reinforcing along the upper front of the shaft. That should protect the carbon fiber from impact with the rock, unless one is quite careless.
blueserac
Noticed the reinforcing at the neck of too, must dissipate the energy and help hold the head. The curve should really keep things protected. I still have and use an old pair of straight shaft Chouinard fibre glass tools. The space age technology in the new Cobras should be nice. PaulB
Cobras have always been made of carbon fiber, and I can't recall hearing any complaints about durability over the years. The original Cobra also had a short metal section on the upper shaft. I think it has a dual purpose of securely holding the shaft to the head while also protecting the carbon from nicks.
