kevino Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 (edited) I'm going to be visiting a friend in bellingham this weekend...Is there any climbing close by to bellingham? Driving time like <30 minutes or something. Thanks all. Edited July 19, 2007 by kevino Quote
moronbros Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 booyah. never-never-ham..the climbing land o'plenty! yeah. you like sandstone friction runouts? Boat launch wall - just down chuckanut drive south of town. check the tide tables and go when it's low. you get to climb more =) also, check out Mt. Erie in Anacortes. or...make friends with a Western student and pay your way into the bouldering cave at the gym there. "the realm of the mattress people" I wish Squamish was less than 30 minutes from The Ham... Quote
mythosgrl Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 (edited) The closest decent climbing is at Mt. Erie. ~40 minute drive Yeah, the Larabee boat launch wall is ok... super runout and sandy. Good views though and pretty area. Edited July 19, 2007 by mythosgrl Quote
Telemack Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 (edited) You might check out Mt. Baker Rock, on the left 3 miles past Glacier on the MB Highway. 40 min. drive? Not tons or stuff but good quality metamorphosed igneous, and several of the harder routes stay dry in the rain. The dry cliff with the bolted 11s (and up) is a whole 1 minute walk from the road. There is a Bellingham rock guide I got at an outdoor store downtown, but I don't know if it's available. Bouldering at Larrabee is not stellar but quite fun, in a beautiful seaside locale.
