Fairweather Posted June 23, 2007 Posted June 23, 2007 Not really a climb, so I won't "[TR]" it, but the kid and I hiked up Mount Townsend today. Originally planned to hike Marmot Pass and climb Buckhorn, but rain on my windshield made me take a right at the fork in FS Road 27 - not a problem since I'd never been up here before. Classic Olympic forest mist and very light rain followed us up this well maintained trail. Plenty of Rhodies and other assorted mountain flowers to be enjoyed. Although I wore boots anticipating snow at 6400 feet, there was none to be found in anything but small patches around 5600 feet. Tennis shoes and a water bottle would have worked just fine. My son claims to be out of shape, but we managed to knock off this 4mile/3000' gain in about 1hr 30min while he sang to himself with his IPod buds stuffed into his ears. (The boy still has much to learn.) Singing merrily: Dad (aka Fairweather): This view lasted about 3 minutes: Quote
Drederek Posted June 24, 2007 Posted June 24, 2007 The weather looks like it was slightly better than last sunday. Hiked up towards Marmot pass with the wife and only got a 10 second view of Boulder ridge. Are those two peaks on the right Buckhorn in your last pic? Quote
Fairweather Posted June 24, 2007 Author Posted June 24, 2007 I think so - with Warrior in the left/background? I'm not sure, and even though I had Buckhorn as a waypoint in my GPS that day, I didn't turn it on to see if it pointed that way. Quote
