Volunteers Needed!

USAC Division I Championships 6/9 and 6/10

 

Hi folks, Bob Dolan here from the Clubsport Adventure Center in Tigard, OR.

 

We're hosting the USA Climbing Division I Championships on June 9th and 10th. For those of you who don't know, USAClimbing is the governing body for competitive climbing in the United States--kind of like US Track and Field. And, Division I is the entire West Coast. Which means, almost 200 elite climbers from the West Coast will be competing here.

 

We're in need of lots of volunteers:

Experienced Top Rope Belayers

Experienced Lead Belayers

Route Judges

Monitors

Runners

Crowd Control

and General Assistance.

 

We could use anybody's help.

 

All volunteers will be fed at lunch time, given a competition t-shirt, and see some of the best young climbers in the country.

 

If interested, please do the following:

1.) Go to USAClimbing and download the form titled "Volunteer Sign-up Form" about midpage.

2.) Print it, fill it out, and mail, fax or email it in.

3.) We'll be getting back to you with your "shift".

Hi Bob, good luck getting volounteers. i will help if I can.

 

One thing i can say is please make sure the judges are well trained in the rules, and that the lead belayers know how to belay kids.

 

One thing I saw at Regionals was some poor static lead belaying, which may be ok for an adult but not for a kid. My team kids were afraid of the belay while leading.
