Hey Aussie,

This is what I said on the blog...

Access to the mountain is still quite challenging, unless you really like hard approaches. For example, getting to the Westside Road is difficult because the Nisqually to Longmire road is only open to the public (sorry no vehicles) on Sundays from 10AM-5PM. What does this mean, either you have to complete your trip in under 7 hours, or take 7 days! And with that said, the road above Longmire is totally closed to any sort of pedestrian traffic. Even if you made it to Longmire in under 7 hours, you still can't hike, climb, ski, board, walk, thumb, or skip along the road to Paradise."

To cut to the chase (and for practical purposes) it's tough to get to get to Paradise/Nisqually Glacier/Camp Muir. There are "some" possiblities, but the team should be familiar w/ the mountain, super fit, and creative w/ approach. Basically, the roads are off limits most of the time.

From what I hear, it will be April (at least) before you can drive a pesonal vehicle to Paradise.

What are some suggestions as far as routes atleast up to paradise? Were a couple a pretty fit fellows, just to get that outa the way... Also just to be 100% sure no hiking is alowed up the main roads, backtrails only?

Its just we'd like to atleast make it to paradise, its been so long. Plus i think this hike would help us better appriciate the roads that were lost.(not that we don't already do)
