TheBootfitter Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 Hey all, I'm planning to head up the South Route of The Brothers with a few buddies over Oct 14-15. Anyone have recent beta on what kind of conditions I may encounter? Links to weather reports? Should we anticipate to find significant snow on the ground? Any info is appreciated. Thanks! Quote
Drederek Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 Nothing in the way of fresh snow on Stone last saturday. Hope you get a nice weekend. Quote
TheBootfitter Posted October 10, 2006 Author Posted October 10, 2006 (edited) Looks like the fire in that area will prevent us from heading there. We're looking at Mt Curtis Gilbert in Goat Rocks or the Tatoosh Range traverse instead. I know there's no shortage of options, but any specific suggestions are welcome. Cheers! NEW -- The East Fork Fire located approximately one mile north of Lena Lake in the Brothers Wilderness is currently estimated at 6 acres in size. The fire is slowly creeping in sub-alpine timber. Three fire fighters hiked into the fire Thursday, 10/5/06 to assess the fire situation. Based on the resource values, topography and time of year, only minimal suppression actions will be undertaken. For public safety, the Brothers Trail # 821 is closed to hikers at the wilderness boundary located just north of Lena Lake. The Lake itself and Upper Lena Lake Trail #81, remains open to the public. astrov Posted October 12, 2006 Posted October 12, 2006 Is the Valley of the Silent Men the East or West fork of Lena Creek? Either way, that sucks, because that's some beautiful forest in there ... Quote
