RentonDad Posted May 30, 2006 Share Posted May 30, 2006 Does anyone know if the DOT has given any estimate of the time needed to repair the road (washout) damage? We frequently access the park from the Enumclaw/Hwy 410 route. Going around the SW side of the mountain is time prohibitive for us at this point with two small children in tow. mtngt Posted May 30, 2006 Share Posted May 30, 2006 From the DOT website: "SR 123 is closed indefinitely from the Cayuse Pass summit to just north of Stevens Canyon Road because of a rockslide and road washout. Norman_Clyde Posted May 30, 2006 Share Posted May 30, 2006 I talked to a DOT guy at the gate a few weeks ago. He said the scale of the washout is massive, with a hundred foot drop at pavement's edge. RentonDad Posted May 30, 2006 Author Share Posted May 30, 2006 (edited) Bummer, I'm going to have to really petition the party leader (my wife) for at least one trip to Ohannapecosh this summer. Sounds like this could be a long term thing.
