Alpine_Tom Posted January 10, 2002 Posted January 10, 2002 for the last couple of weeks, when you try to go there: http://www.nps.gov/mora/home.htm the site doesn't respond. Now there's a message that says "Due to conditions outside our department, the National Park Service has suspended operation of www.nps.gov until further notice. We apologize for this inconvenience and are working to restore service as soon as possible." Anyone know what's up? Budget cuts? IIS virus? Quote
jules Posted January 10, 2002 Posted January 10, 2002 The Dept of the Interior discovered that their website, which runs the entire NPS's sites, was too vulnerable to hacking by terrorists or some such thing. They took the whole thing down, pending further notice. Quote
Beck Posted January 10, 2002 Posted January 10, 2002 The feds at the dept of interior hired hackers to break in and steal information from the Bureau of Indian Affairs site. Once they did, instead of hiring the hacks to fix the leaks, they agency (D of I) took their own dept, Bureau of Indian Affairs to court- the result? No external connection to the internet by ANY of the Dept of Interior agencies- that's government for ya Quote
