ken4ord Posted March 30, 2006 Posted March 30, 2006 Well here is the best site for general information on climbing in Kenya. Also if you are in Nairobi on a Tuesday night definitely swing by and meet people of thge Mountain Club of Kenya MCK at their pub night in the club house. Directions can be found on the website. Here is their web page. Quote
ken4ord Posted March 30, 2006 Author Posted March 30, 2006 Well another area that I have heard about, but there is very little info out there about. Poi is located in the northern part of Kenya, it sounds like the approaches to the cliff can be quite brutal, but with 700m of rock looming above, worth it. Here is the linkity link. Quote
crackers Posted March 31, 2006 Posted March 31, 2006 If you want to climb poi, my friend marnix has done a few routes on it...marnix grew up in kenya, yet described the trip into poi as 'interesting bordering on difficult'. Quote
ken4ord Posted March 31, 2006 Author Posted March 31, 2006 Yeah talking to people about Poi, it sounds like the crux of climbing there is the approaches and poachers/cattle rustlers. Though it also sounds like the climbs themselves are no give away. Quote
crackers Posted March 31, 2006 Posted March 31, 2006 marnix onsighted two or three routes in a row on the doctors wall at skaha without working too hard...while complaining about how he wasn't fit. marnix's word for the people you describe was 'bandits'. Quote
