jon Posted February 9, 2006 Posted February 9, 2006 Falling Upward: Mike Layton Friday, March 10 7 pm The Mountaineers, 300 Third Ave West, Seattle It was one of the last great unsolved climbing problems in the North Cascades. With a tortuous approach and a 1500-foot vertical slab, few people had attempted the East Face of Southeast Mox Peak. In September of 2005, however, Mike Layton and Erik Wolfe successfully climbed and descended the route in just over 18 grueling hours. Mike Layton visits The Mountaineers on Friday, March 10 to share his account of this groundbreaking climb. In addition, Layton will also present the tale of his climb on the Washington Pass Traverse, one of the few grade VI traverses in the Cascades. This free event is open to the general public.
