letsroll Posted December 17, 2005 Posted December 17, 2005 About a year ago a bubble in my copass appeared. It has since become larger. So large I believe it is affecting the function of the needle. What causes the bubble to form? Right now I think some how the underside of the compass gets pressed too hard and some how air is let in and liquid is let out. Going to buy a new one but would like to prevent this in the future. Any ideas? Thanks, Letsroll Quote
crazyjizzy Posted December 17, 2005 Posted December 17, 2005 The function should not really be affected. Many compasses are not glycerin dampened, including some high quality Bruntons. The bubble is caused by a leak. If it bothers you, replace it, otherwise go ahead and use it. Quote
pale Posted December 18, 2005 Posted December 18, 2005 What kind of compass is it? If it's a Silva or Brunton, they will replace it no charge, you pay shipping to. I had the same problem. Just send them an email and they will send you a return authorization #. Took about 4 weeks for me to get mine back. Quote
letsroll Posted December 18, 2005 Author Posted December 18, 2005 Silva, ranger I think. Will go and check out about sending it in. Thanks for the info. Quote
