We're heading to Baker next week and planning to hike in via the Ptarmigan Ridge trail and make camp at the Portals or Flats for a couple nights. Has anyone been up the Park Glacier direct, Cockcomb, or Park-Boulder cutoff late this season? I have not been to the area before and I don't know exactly what to expect in mid-August on these routes. Are the bergshrunds passable? Are any snow-bridges safe?

Thanks for your help...

We climbed the Boulder/Park Cleaver to the Park HW on Sunday. Quite passable, and the schunds are pretty easy to nagivate.

Descending the Boulder back to the cleaver is still possible.

I don't know if the Park proper still goes, it's starting to look pretty crevassed, but I didn't look very closely. The Cleaver is definitely worth your while, though.
