2campforfree Posted June 29, 2005 Posted June 29, 2005 In the market for a new rope. Seems the UIAA has suspended the edge cut resistant ratings of all ropes. So now it seems many manufacturers are claiming their ropes are edge proof. Anyone have info if these claims are founded or are they all jumping on the bandwagon while the UIAA isn't commenting. Also is the Stratos being discontinued and replaced by the Sharp? Anyone have experience with either? (BTW- I know not to intentionally put the rope in a situation where it could be cut simply because of the makers claim.) Camping should be FREE Quote
mattp Posted June 29, 2005 Posted June 29, 2005 I've been using the Stratos for ten years and I have been very happy with them. I now have a pair of 8.5 mm Sharp's. Yes, I believe they replaced the Stratos. They are good tough ropes and I like the stiffer than average handling -- they seem less prone to tangling around things than other ropes of similar thickness. Quote
