patrickmcc Posted June 7, 2005 Posted June 7, 2005 My partner & I are planning on taking a shot at Ptarmigan Ridge the weekend of 6/24, and decending the Emmons. Can anyone tell me how long a hike it is from White River to the start of the climb? Looks like quite a haul. What other options are there? Any info would be appreciated, Patrick Quote
Chriznitch Posted June 7, 2005 Posted June 7, 2005 hey Patrick, It's quite a haul from whiteriver to the ridge. I always thought the liberty ridge approach was brutal, let alone ptarmigan! Try your best to arrange a car shuttle from mowich lake--this approach is much easier. If not, plan an extra day or two to cross the many glaciers and ridges from whiteriver. however your descent will be cake! Quote
patrickmcc Posted June 7, 2005 Author Posted June 7, 2005 that's kind of what I figured. Anyone thinking of doing the route that weekend & want to hook up for the shuttle? Quote
sweatinoutliquor Posted June 7, 2005 Posted June 7, 2005 Shuttle was priceless, though it's a long one. Find someone you know, tell them they get an all expenses paid trip to Rainier and all they need to do is be at Whiteriver around the time when you finish! Quote
