PaulB Posted April 15, 2005 Posted April 15, 2005 In the quest for gold, any obstacle can be overcome: "For five years, Barrick has been working on a plan to use big dump trucks and hydraulic shovels to haul away the ice and tack it onto a bigger glacier two kilometres away." "The company will submit a glacier management plan to the Chilean government later this month, and hopes to have all the approvals it needs by the end of the year." Quote
knelson Posted April 15, 2005 Posted April 15, 2005 Reminds me of "mitigation" done for wetlands development around here. They allow the developer to create another wetland somewhere else. Does it need to be in the same drainage? No. Same general area? No. Phhhhhhhh. The wetlands destroyed by the 3rd runway at SeaTac were "replaced" by wetlands in the Green River Valley, down by Auburn! Go figure. -kurt Quote
