Bet there are plenty of bad ass cracks around here just waiting to be climbed, in non rainy season. What gets me is it seems like nobody climbs much out of the beaten path. I was amazed at how many awesome lines were up at Midnight Rock that nature has reclaimed because of lack of traffic.

Cream=Harrrddd!

Actually haven't been on it. My partner and I couldn't get up the 10b warm up. We went to Energy Crisis instead.

There has actually been a fair bit of new activity down in the valley this year. But most of it is in the 5.12 range. A couple of new routes went up on the Sentinal. One of them has supposively on of the best 5.12a handcracks in the valley, rivaling the Cringe. It overhangs for thirty feet. Sounds pretty rad. I wish the rest of the route didn't have solid 5.11+ with long runouts. It might of been worth trying if it wasn't for that.

Tim, how about Bobcat Cringe at index, I think that route needs a reserection. You are right, there are so many amazing looking routes in WA that need another scrub.

The crack neophyte I am is wondering.....

If you were to put together a list of crack (trad)routes in the state of Washington for someone who wants to gain a good all around understanding of what crack climbing is really all about what routes would you list and why? How about a progressive list of routes by difficulty, commitment, or other factors grouped in levels such as level 1, 2, and 3?

Mike,

Your so right. So many good cracks hear but it appears very few climb them from the layers of moss and dirt. I heard from a couple people that Super Crack at Midnight was awesome but dirty. Climbed at route in Leavenworth this fall called Lazy Boy, totally amazing climbing but it looked like nobody had been on it for years. In my mind for the grade probably technically better than ROTC.

I want to clean Bobcat Cringe out this spring. A buddy said he might clean it out as well. From what I hear its good. Finally did Clay this fall. Dam good climbing.

Good luck in Patagonia! I'll be psyched to hear about your adventures upon your return!
