Ade Posted January 28, 2005 Posted January 28, 2005 A long time ago I was aboe to buy one of Brad's pictures as a 10x8 for research purposes when I was planning a trip to the Yukon. I'm pretty sure I got this from the Boston Museum of Science. Does anyone know where his photo archive lives these days and if it's still possible to buy pictures. I mean access to the whole catalog and purchase of 10x8s not selected images in large format for large cash like Panopticon sell. Quote
David_Byrne Posted January 28, 2005 Posted January 28, 2005 I recently had good luck ordering several of his Alaska Range photos from the Rasmuson Library at the Univ of Alaska, Alaska and Polar Regions Dept.: http://www.uaf.edu/library/apr/ They faxed me a list of photos to choose from for our area of interest. 8 x 10 - $28. Other sizes available. Not sure if they have an online list. The ones I received Quote
Jedi Posted January 29, 2005 Posted January 29, 2005 The Univ is about the best you are gonna do. Boston Museum no longer has the neg's. They have been sent to the library above or that gallery in Boston that sells his prints for $$$$$$. I think the starting price for an 8x10 is $600 or $800. Then 11x16 are really priced high. Price go up to $8,000 for some prints (or something silly like that.) The owner said something like "It is no longer economical for us to sell the 8x10 prints to climbers for $25." Shit, I guess not if people will pay $600 for one. Quote
Ade Posted January 29, 2005 Author Posted January 29, 2005 The MoS gave me this contact at the U of Alaska: Peggy Asbury, Archivist Alaska & Polar Regions Dept. Rasmuson Library UNIVERSITY OF ALASKA FAIRBANKS P.O. Box 756808 Fairbanks, AK 99775-6808 Phone: 907-474-6595 Fax: 907-474-6365 Web: http://www.uaf.edu/library/apr/index.html It's that or PANOPTICON and there's no way I'm dealing with those purveyors of overpriced yuppie adventure porn. Jedi Posted January 29, 2005 Posted January 29, 2005 That's the place Ade, Panopticon. Bastards! Quote
Ade Posted March 9, 2005 Author Posted March 9, 2005 We got some photos from U of Alaska in the end. Not cheap, we had to use the "rush order" service when they told us that doing contact prints of three BW negs (a trivial process) was going to take SIX weeks. Quote
