mhb3939 Posted January 3, 2005 Posted January 3, 2005 Hello; I will be flying to Portland in March to climb Hood via the south side (Hogsback) can anyone give me any beta on ice climbing in the area? I do not know the area and looking for a day of ice climbing while I am on the Mnt. Email me at mhb3939@comcast.net with any beta you may have. Thank you in advance, Mike Quote
layton Posted January 3, 2005 Posted January 3, 2005 (edited) hey, wait till a couple weeks before your trip and ask again, there are too many variables to take into concideration to give you any sort of reliable ice prediction. if you wanna walk/climb the s.side of mt. hood, just check the weather if you wanna climb actual ice go to banff bring skiis and rock gear for a change of plan, the skiing there is fun in all conditions, and smith is very close (about an hour from hood) and should be warm fun in the sun in march if hood craps out on you. sean_beanntan Posted January 3, 2005 Posted January 3, 2005 Good ice on Hood, well Illumination Rock in March would be a possible sweet day out. Also look for the west side gullies below Hawkins cliff to offer some WI. Quote
