barjor
Climb: Mt Adams-South Spur Date of Climb: 11/12/2004 Trip Report: Did this trip Friday Arrived at the south trail head around 7:30 and the temperature was then around 30. The snow on the road was less then it have been the last couple of weeks but according to the ranger they now have 10" of snow at the trailhead. Stayed on the summer route pretty much the whole time. The snow was soft and sludgy and I was switching between snowshoes and crampons and nothing really worked well. Turned around half way up crescent glacier. Nice hike but if you are aiming for higher elevation you need to get going early, the hike back would have been ugly without snow shoes. Did a little bit of glissading but there are still plenty of rock obstacles.
