Climbing in Nepal

New on the list, figured I knew enough of you gumbies to finally get my moon.gif in here.

I'm on my way out to Nepal from Dec to Apr. I'll be trekking out there for the winter but thinking about dragging my gear out there for reasons that need no words. Is anyone headed out there and interested in climbing??? I'm thinking about climbing anything from Island Peak to Ama Dablam. It's kinda my style not to do one of those guided goat-ropes, but I'd be ok with hiring a local guide if it's a personal trip with solid climbers.

And hey, if you've been there and have an endorsement (guides, mountains, lively corners of Kathmandu) just shoot em here or via my email bowe@earthlink.net!

Toots!

I went about a year and half ago and climbed Island, Mera and Lobuche as part of a small group and used a nepalese company, Sherpa Shangri La Treks, shangrilatrek.com, that I would highly recommend. We set up the itinerary ourselves for 3 climbers and they were very accomodating to our requests and did it at a reasonable price. I believe Alpine Ascents uses them as their main liason in Nepal for their trips there, so can probably handle anything you're thinking about. Let me know if you want any more info. Have fun!
