kThurner Posted August 3, 2004 Posted August 3, 2004 Anyone have current conditions of Slesse Creek Road? Quote
Dru Posted August 3, 2004 Posted August 3, 2004 same condition as last year and Slesse Creek is in BC not the North Cascades Quote
Hal_Burton Posted August 3, 2004 Posted August 3, 2004 kT must have been mislead by Beckey's quote about the NE Butt of Slesse being "The beauty queen of the North Cascades." Not the first of us to be mislead by the words of Fred! Quote
Dru Posted August 3, 2004 Posted August 3, 2004 its in the north cascades but THE NORTH CASCADES FORUM STOPS AT THE BORDER JUST LIKE GUNS AND PEANUT BUTTER! Quote
jmace Posted August 3, 2004 Posted August 3, 2004 ITs Drivable with a H-C 4WD and some skill, the bridge is gone across the river it is however easy to cross, in daylight!!! Quote
North_Cascades_Mtn_Guides Posted August 4, 2004 Posted August 4, 2004 The Slesse creek trailhead has been moved. As you turn onto the road just after crossing the creek you will see the big warning signs for unexploded shells and ammunition. Follow the main road for a few miles until you see a big sign saying "new Slesse Creek trailhead". Several more miles keeping right at all junctions will bring you to a washed out bridge. This is the new parking lot and doable in a 2 wheel drive vehicle. You can leave a car here (or a bike), but its another mile or so of hiking to the start of the new trail. As of 2 weeks ago, it was extensivelyt flagged with green surveyors tape and clearly marked and brushed out to where it meets the old trail. Keep in mind, this is the descent for Slesse, as the trail goes up to the Southwest face. Best of luck. Larry Goldie Quote
