There is a gym in Richmond.

Lighthouse park is probably closest.

Getting out to the valley during afterwork rush hour is a

hellish nightmare, making it no closer than Squamish. If you

time the traffic right it takes 1h15m from the Knight St.

Bridge to the Chief.

In the long days of summer you can get at least 3 hours of

daylight post-work climbing in Squamish

hahaha... good answer. Whats the deal with Lighthouse park? I've been there a few times and keep hearing whispers about a climbing area but have never found the cliffs. Are they to the North-West of the lighthouse? How do I get to them?

I know... I know... I have Canada's top crag only a little over an hour from my place but if you only have 2 1/2 or 3 hours to blow, you can't even get to Squamish and back, let alone get some arm pump. Besides, whenever I go to Squamish I might as well leave my watch in my truck. I just can't leave till my headlamps batteries die and my shivering starts pealing my body off of the routes.

I visited the gymn the other day. I'm going to start going as soon as my leg heals. Looking for a belay partner? the bouldering is kinda limited.

Thanks for the info!

the climbs are at Juniper Point. The trail starts out of

the right side of the parking lot (not the far end which

goes to the lighthouse). Just keep taking the right option

at each fork and you might end up in the right place. It's

really only a TR area, very greasy and compact, picturesque

though, seacliffs, seals, drunk people on boat cruises.

There are some other areas on the North Shore too ... I don't

know much about them but maybe Cairns or Dru will chime in.

I might be into going to the Rockhouse ... $$ dependent. Also

if the jerky people have stopped working there.

seacliffs, seals and drunk people... what more could you ask for in entertainment?

I don't know about the jerky people at the Rockhouse? The only person working there when I went was a (mid-late 40's??) man. He's an old school climber that bought the place a number of years ago. He got married early so he doesn't have much climbing experience but seemed nice enough.

I'm laid up with the last of a series of operations for a broken leg but am planning on climbing hard as soon as its healed, say late February?
