ridehikeclimbski Posted January 17, 2004 Posted January 17, 2004 I was wondering, are G-Rides a warm boot or do I use 2 socks (thick and thin) to stay warm while climbing up high, I use 2 socks in my Koflach Degre boots. Also can I use the CM S12 crampons w/o the bail wire on the toe on these boots or is the bail wire one recommended ? Going up Whitneys MR in March and ski from the notch down after summiting. Thanks for your input on them, rather listen to CC.com regulars than the local ski shop sales people ... almost lunchtime . Quote
Figger_Eight Posted January 17, 2004 Posted January 17, 2004 The G-rides have a thermoliner in them - that'll make them warmer than your Degres. Also, if you have those boots sized right, wearing two socks might make them too tight, restricting circulation and actually making them colder. Hey...how's that tent by the way? Quote
russ Posted January 17, 2004 Posted January 17, 2004 Depends how you have them fit. To lessen the chance of heel blisters I fit my thermoliners with the intend of wearing a ski sock and a liner sock. With a proper fit, they'll be plenty warm for Whitney. Quote
